For almost 30 years, Flotation Technologies has been a world leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of deepwater buoyancy systems, specializing in high-strength Flotec™ syntactic foam and polyurethane elastomer products. Flotation Technologies was founded in 1979 by a pioneer in the industry and has been manufacturing syntactic foam longer than any other company in the industry today. This depth of experience allows the company to provide distinct solutions in an ever-changing marketplace. Flotation Technologies founded by David Cook

1984

The company moves to Landry Street, more than doubling the size of its manufacturing facility

1986

Flotation Technologies invents the ADCP Buoy

1994

Flotation Technologies is the first company to use plastics technology as a surface coating for buoyancy products

1995

Flotation Technologies builds buoyancy for the first deep submergence submarine rescue vehicle

1996

Flotation Technologies invents the trawl resistant bottom mount (TRBM)

1996

Flotation Technologies manufactures the ROV buoyancy for James Cameron to use in filming the movie "Titanic"

1997

Flotation Technologies manufactures the first syntactic foam lead in float for the seismic industry

1998

Flotation Technologies moves to Elm Street, more then doubling the size of its manufacturing facility

2003

Flotation Technologies receives its ISO 9001:2000 certification

2004

Flotation Technologies manufactures its first distributed buoyancy module

2005

Flotation Technologies manufactures its first bend restrictor

Flotation Technologies signs an alliance agreement with Teledyne RD Instruments

2006

Flotation Technologies manufactures buoyancy for the DepthX Project (autonomous underwater vehicle bound for one of Jupiter's moons)

2007

Flotation Technologies receives the prestigious Manufacturing Extension Partnership's (MEP) Manufacturing Excellence Award - an award that recognizes a company for achieving world-class manufacturing status

Flotation Technologies moves to a new 45,000 square foot facility in the Biddeford Industrial Park, significantly increasing manufacturing capacity and staff

Flotation Technologies receives registered supplier status from Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras)

2008

Flotation Technologies introduces CoreTec™ drilling riser buoyancy module

Flotation Technologies develops distributed buoyancy design products for Technip
