Flotation Technologies specializes in Flotec™ syntactic foam and polyurethane elastomer.

What is Syntactic Foam?

Syntactic foam is an engineered material consisting of hollow glass microspheres, which are encapsulated in a resin matrix. The presence of hallow particles results in a lower density, higher strength material thereby providing buoyancy. Flotation Technologies manufactures many types of syntactic foam for use at different depths. With a specific density range from .4 – .64 (25 – 40 pounds/ft3) Flotation Technologies offers syntactic foam for use from surface to up to 7,000m depth.

What is Polyurethane Elastomer?

Polyurethane elastomer is formed by reacting a polyol with a polymeric isocyanate. Polyurethane elastomer is a high-performance material with exceptional properties. Flotation Technologies offers polyurethane elastomer in a wide variety of forms, from a very flexible 45 Shore A to strong and rigid 80 Shore D and limitless varieties in between. A tough, resilient material, it can outperform steels and rubbers in many applications.
