At higher temperatures and pressures a pipeline’s natural tendency is to relieve its axial stress by buckling. Left uncontrolled, this buckling can have serious consequences to the integrity of a pipeline.

In the past, the industry has relied upon restraining pipelines by trenching and burying or in-line expansion spools. As a solution, to control the formation of lateral buckles along the pipeline and alleviate stress on buckles, Flotation Technologies designed its Buckle Migration Buoyancy Module, a cost-effective and attractive solution. Buckle Migration Buoyancy Modules decrease lateral friction and reduces severity of buckle bending by using buoyancy to decrease the operational submerged weight of the pipeline.
